A hand-painted portrait painting costs from 495 CHF incl. frame and free shipping at Fotoalsgemälde.ch - and up to 1'095 CHF for the largest standard format of 100x70 cm. The price depends only on the size: frame, free shipping throughout Switzerland, approval along the way and a satisfaction guarantee are all included in the price. Here is the complete price guide for 2026.
Price list 2026 - all prices incl. frame and free shipping
- 60x40 cm = 495 CHF - our most chosen size for portraits
- 50x50 cm = 495 CHF - square format, lovely in groups
- 70x50 cm = 645 CHF - lovely above a chest of drawers or smaller piece of furniture

- 70x70 cm = 795 CHF - a statement in a square
- 100x70 cm = 1'095 CHF - gallery size for large rooms
You never pay extra for the number of people, pets or the complexity of the subject - only for the size. If you want dimensions outside the standard sizes, you choose a custom size (40-150 cm per side) directly on the product page and see the price immediately - the same price per cm² as the fixed sizes, frame and shipping included. All prices incl. 8.1 % VAT.
What is included in the price?
The price covers the whole process from the moment you upload your photo until the painting hangs on your wall:
- Personal photo analysis - We go through your photo and suggest any adjustments
- 100 % hand-painted by the artist Michael in our studio in Hong Kong, run from Aarhus, Denmark
- Premium oil painting on gallery-stretched canvas
- Floating frame in the colour of your choice - black, white, natural, silver or gold - included in the price
- Approval along the way - you receive pictures of the painting and can comment before it is finished and sent
- Free shipping throughout Switzerland
- Satisfaction guarantee - we repaint it, or you get your money back if you aren't satisfied
The frame is included - you choose the colour
With us, framing isn't an optional extra but part of the package: the painting is delivered ready-framed in a floating frame in the colour you choose - black, white, natural, silver or gold - ready to hang. See the guide to the 5 frame types here. If you prefer the clean look without a frame, you can choose that - the price is the same, and the gallery-stretched canvas has painted edges.
What affects the price of a portrait painting?
With us, the price depends on just one thing: the size. Many other providers let the price vary according to:
Number of people in the subject
Other painting companies charge 80-320 CHF extra per person. With us it is included - whether it is one person, a couple or a family of five.
Number of pets
We don't charge extra for painting dogs, cats, horses or other pets into the subject either.
Background and level of detail
You can choose a plain background (solid colour), a complex background (garden, living room, landscape) or a combination. It is included in the price.
Subject complexity
We don't add a surcharge for complicated pictures. A wedding painting with five guests costs the same as a solo portrait of the same size.
How does the price compare with the alternatives?
| Solution | Typical price | Durability |
|---|---|---|
| AI-generated image + print | 8-32 CHF | Digital file / print, fades |
| Print on canvas | 32-130 CHF | 5-10 years, fades |
| Hand-painted oil painting with us (incl. frame) | 495-1'095 CHF | Generations |
| Local portrait painter in Switzerland | 1'300-4'000 CHF | Generations |
A canvas print is digitally printed - not painted. It is fine as everyday decoration, but has neither the tactile texture of oil paint nor the lifespan of an heirloom. Local Swiss artists deliver the same craftsmanship as we do, but have to cover Swiss salary and studio costs. Our pricing model is more affordable because the artist Michael paints from Hong Kong and we run everything from Aarhus, Denmark, without middlemen. If you are in doubt about the difference between a print and a painting, read photo on canvas vs. hand-painted painting.
