When you order a hand-painted painting from us, you are buying from a company with a real office, a telephone number and personal customer service - not an anonymous webshop. That means help in your own language when you have questions, a correct invoice, a clear satisfaction guarantee and a quick reply when you want to check something along the way. Many people know the classic portrait painting but assume it is reserved for the aristocracy. That is simply no longer the case. At Fotoalsgemälde.ch we have made it something for everyone: a hand-painted painting of your family, your child, your pet or your wedding photo should be affordable for ordinary Swiss families - without having to spend a fortune.

Our pricing is simple: one fixed price per size - frame and shipping included. A 60×40 cm painting costs 495 CHF. A 70×50 cm painting costs 645 CHF. The floating frame is included in the price, so the painting is ready to hang on the wall of your flat in Zurich-Wipkingen or your house in Küsnacht. Shipping is included in the price.

That means an ordinary family can have a large, framed, hand-painted family portrait for under 800 CHF - delivered to the door. Compared with traditional portrait artists, who typically charge 2'400-8'000 CHF for an oil painting of a similar size, that price difference makes all the difference.

Online first - but personally there for you

We deliberately chose to be an online business. That is how we keep our prices low.

If we had a showroom on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse with big shop windows and expensive rent, those costs would end up in the price of your paintings. We chose not to do that. Instead, we invest in the quality of the painting itself, in the framing and in customer service. The result is that a hand-painted family portrait often costs 70-80 % less with us than with a portrait artist who has a studio in the city centre.

That does not mean you are left on your own. Our customer service is available by email and telephone on weekdays from 9 am to 4 pm. We send you pictures of your painting during the process, so you can approve the preview and the finished work before we ship it. Your painting is professionally packed with corner protection and padding and transported fully insured by DHL or UPS. Thanks to tracking, you know where your painting is at all times - and the courier notifies you before delivery.

The whole delivery process typically takes 2-3 weeks from the moment you order to the moment the painting hangs on your wall. It breaks down like this: 7-10 days for the painting itself to be made in the studio, 2-3 days for transport to Europe, 1-2 days for framing in our workshop, and 2-4 working days for delivery to your home.
